A car is a mode of transportation that helps in commuting short as well as long distances. Nowadays, owning a car is a necessity for individuals and families, alike. However, there are certain criteria that have to be fulfilled if you want to own a car. One of them is car insurance. It is compulsory to insure a car. Of course, you can opt for public transportation or decide to not purchase a car. However, travelling by public transportation can be full of hassles because it means braving harsh weather while waiting for a bus or cab. Moreover, at times it becomes difficult to remember bus schedules.

Coming back to the car, car insurance is mandatory in all states. Nobody can drive a vehicle on public roads without insurance. There are also states that do not allow car ownership without insurance.

In some cases, the cost of insurance deters owners from insuring their vehicle. This is a wrong attitude. Nobody can ignore taxes. These have to be paid. Similarly insuring a vehicle is a must even if it pinches the pocket. Sometimes due to financial constraints people defer car insurance payments. This is not acceptable by the law. Owning a vehicle means it will be eventually driven and to be driven it must be insured.

When a vehicle is driven without insurance, serious legal hassles can arise for the owner. Such consequences vary from state to state. Whenever a vehicle is stopped for a routine check by law enforcing officials the first thing they inquire about is insurance. If the owner fails to show proof of the same, a case would be registered against him or her. Thereafter, the owner will have to appear in the court on the day of the hearing. In such a situation, the owner would have to incur lots of expenses like court fees, fines, cost of car insurance etc. Along with these expenses there is also the risk of paying for vehicle impoundment. In many cases the driving license gets cancelled or the owner at fault is required to serve jail term. Why go through all this just to save a few dollars?

Contrary to popular belief, car insurance is not that expensive. The law requires the owner to pay the minimum amount that is applicable. Moreover, different states have different requirements on this minimum amount. Knowing these requirements can help in getting a vehicle insured at a cost effective rate.

A decade ago, an inexpensive quote was a rarity, not any more. With the internet boom, many things have become easy. With many companies competing with each other to get customers, vehicle owners are getting lots of options to choose from. This is providing great opportunities to make substantial savings while insuring a vehicle. Car insurance deals are just a click away. The process has also been simplified. There is a wide range of multiple quotes available that suit every pocket and need.

Contrary to popular belief, car insurance is not that expensive. The law requires the owner to pay the minimum amount that is applicable.

Those who have their Australian travel visas would definitely want to see some of the best places in the country. However, if you are tired of the usual tourist destinations, then you might want to go out and look for more interesting sights to see. And since this is Australia you are talking about, you can expect plenty of unusual things to discover on your travels.

One of the first places that you would want to go to when looking for unusual attractions is the Cohuna Koala Park in Perth, Western Australia. The park is home to a large number of koalas. What makes a trip here more interesting is that you can get your picture with many of the park’s resident koalas. This will definitely be a good souvenir to keep.

Sydney also has its own share of unusual attractions. One place you can go to for this one is the Sydney Harbor Bridge. What’s so unusual about a bridge, you might ask. Well, try climbing on top of the bridge and you will definitely find out. The Bridge Climb is, in fact, one of the most popular attractions for those seeking some adventures in the city.

Another unusual sight to see is Uluru in the Northern Territory. This huge slab of rock is interesting to see, even from afar, as you get to witness it change color as the day goes by. Up close, you will also find plenty of interesting features, like settlement areas made by the Aboriginal people. And the local people themselves will guide you in touring the more unusual features of the rock.

The Dingo Fence, the worlds longest fence, is also a must see sight in Australia. Though not really a designated tourist destination by the Australian government, it is still visited by many people who marvel at the sheer size of the thing. The fence stretches for more than 5,000 kilometers enclosing the southeastern part of the country and was built to prevent dingoes (Australian wild dogs) from entering the agricultural lands in the area. One interesting thing to note is that there are more kangaroos in the area enclosed by the fence than outside.

And since we’re on the topic of big things here, your tour of Australia will not be complete without hunting for Australia’s Big Things. These are a collection of large statues scattered across the country. These range from simply large replicas of objects and animals, to the weirder ones, like a kangaroo holding a soda can (previous a beer can, until the people changed it) in Border Village, Western Australia. There are countless of these Big Things in the country and more are actually being added each year.

As you can see, these are just a sample of the many interesting things that you will be able to see in Australia. And there are still plenty of other attractions just waiting for you to discover. So what are you waiting for? Pack your bags and head for Australia today. You will definitely have a great adventure here.

For many retirees, being able to spend their last years in a good way is a must. And for those bent on immigration, Australia has become a popular destination in recent years. Indeed, there are many opportunities awaiting foreign retirees in the country.

And one of the best opportunities available for those finally leaving the corporate world is putting up a business in Australia. This can be done by applying for an Investor retirement visa, also known as the Subclass 405 visa. This visa allows you move in to Australia after retirement and set up a long term investment in the country. Note that this is different from a retirement visa in that the investor retirement visa allows the holder to work during his stay in the country.

To avail of the visa, the applicant must be at least 55 years old during the time of the application. He must also be able to support himself independently through sufficient funds. He must also be sponsored by the particular state that he wishes to live in.

In order to get sponsored by the state, you need to apply for it. The application form for state sponsorship for retirees is available at the Department of immigration and Citizenship’s website. The state representative will then return the form back to you upon approval. This you would then submit along with the rest of your application documents.

Note that you also need to make a designated investment in order to get your visa released. The Treasury Corporation of the particular state you are going to will provide you the details regarding the eligible investments that you can make, as well as the expected returns. Note that in order to make an investment, you need to have at least AU$ 750,000 worth of funds. For those planning to move in to regional Australia, you only need AU$ 500,000 as minimum funds. You also need to present evidence of a steady income of no less than AU$ 65,000 a year, coming from pensions and other sources.

The only relative that you can bring to Australia is your partner or spouse (of any age).also note that both of you must have no more dependents during the time that you apply for a visa. Your spouse also need to be self supporting. Also, you both need to get a comprehensive health insurance plan that covers everything.

Once you get your visa, you will be able to enter the country anytime you want and stay up to four years. You are also allowed to work for at the most 20 hours per week. You are also allowed to apply for subsequent investor retirement visas after its expiration, as long as you meet the requirements.

When you visit Las Vegas, don’t forget to stop by the city’s old downtown area which displays one of the amazing displays of technological gadgetry in the world (to me, anyway).

The old downtown LV has a roof-top large monitor, constructed of “wire mesh” and connected from each end of the roof end of the buildings from along the downtown mall (like Pitt St Mall) on more than 150 meters of stretch spanning 5 streets.

The roof-top show is amazing! On New Year’s Eve, I imagine you would hardly find an inch of open space in this area ~ what with the spectacle that is on offer!

Here are sample footages which I took from my mobile phone I took whilst there in September 2008.

Click on the play button ( > ) to start video clip.

Enjoy!

This is the old downtown Las Vegas. If “Binion’s” looks familiar, then you must be my age. This is the familiar scene of the 70’s old action TV series about life in Las Vegas.

See the building on the left? And right? The two buildings (two of the buildings along the mall) are connected by the large sky monitor.

Competition sites are growing at an amazing rate, until recently I didnt realise such a thing existed; but a whole world of web sites are out there hosting the details of many thousand on-line competitions.

If you dont know about them yet heres a really good guide to the best sites and how to become a winner online in a few easy steps.

Competition sites act as a directory or link hosting space if you will of current online competitions. They compile as many differing competitions as they can find and give you the details of what you might win and from whom.

If you are like me and often think why do I never win anything I have to tell my self well I didnt bother to enter in fact I never bother to enter. This is where people like you and me have been going wrong for such a long time.

Theres no secret to it, the winners out there arent being given luxury cars, holidays, buckets of cold hard cash or the latest must have gadgets for being immensely clever. Oh no let me inform you that often the competitions online dont even have questions to answer. They have become winners by taking the time and bothering to enter them selves into the draw.

Theres nothing stopping us from becoming winners too! Here are some of the best sites to check out and a few of the features they offer.

UK Competitions is a vast site who lists the competitions they advertise under various categories this is a convenient way of seeing some of the latest categories but also applying for competitions which would appeal to you. UK competitions brings thousands of online competitions into one location.

If youre serious about entering loads of competitions to increase your chances this is the site for you

Alternatively check out MY Offers they list competitions galore but also quizzes which take a bit more skill to enter. Remember though the harder or more complex the entry is the more likely you are to win. This is because the vast majority of people will be put of by a lengthier application process.

This could be the key to your competition success if less people are in the draw, you will have a much better chance of being one of the winners.

The Prize Finder is a similar site with tons of content the add hundreds of new competitions on a daily basis if you want to win some serious prizes you should have a look at the Prize Finder. Prize finder also run a lot of their own competitions and but be wary because you could end up spending your own cash to play them.

Competitors Companion are a good site which clearly distinguish between having to pay to enter and the free competitions. They also gather together some of the biggest prizes offered and keep them together in one place.

The site has its own blog where members keep in touch and tell each other of any wins they have had. Winners at this web site help each other out with hints and tips of playing multiple competitions.

Have a look for yourself it doesnt take long to have a look through your search engine and decide on the best competition sites to use. Have a go and Good luck!

How to find the best Competition Sites and win a holiday to La Manga Club in Spain.

There are countless activities for the outdoor enthusiast staying in Gatlinburg cabin rentals. The Smoky Mountains offers hiking, fishing, camping, and lots of other activities. For example the area offers numbers opportunities for rafting, both gentle paddling and whitewater adventure.

Pigeon River Trips

One of the most popular rafting destinations for people staying in Gatlinburg cabin rentals is the Pigeon River. The Upper Pigeon River is the destination for people who like whitewater rafting. Locals consider this the best whitewater experience around. This part of the river has continuous class II through class IV whitewater providing plenty of exciting moments for both experienced rafters and adventurous first-timers. The breathtaking natural backdrop adds a special touch to the experience.

For those who want sometime more relaxing, the Lower Pigeon River is a slow winding waterway. Rafts gently make their way along the currents giving passengers plenty of opportunities to enjoy the scenery and abundant wildlife.

Paddling the Alpine Lakes

Just south of the Great Smoky Mountains National Park, easy to reach from your cabin, are five lakes called the Finger Lakes of the South: Calderwood, Cheoh, Fontana, Nantahala, and Santeetlah.

These lakes offer plenty of paddling opportunities as well as forested shorelines, trout-filled streams, and plenty of natural wonders to explore both by boat and on foot. Even though millions of tourists flock to the area every year, few of them discover these secluded areas.

Even locals come across new surprises when they visit. The area is vast and unspoiled, offering endless adventure to visitors. Campsites and hiking trails provide plenty of exploration opportunities. Many visitors like to paddle for a while and then camp and explore the area before paddling to a new destination. You could spend months here and never visit the same place twice.

Creeks Around Fontana Lake

All of the lakes have many creeks to explore. Let’s look at a couple of examples near Fontana Lake. One nice trip is down Hazel Creek starting in Cable Cove Landing. If you like you can camp at Proctor campsite and explore the ruins of an abandoned logging town that once boasted a thousand residents. Paddle your way to Fontana Lake then into Eagle Creek where you can camp at Lost Cove for plenty of fishing and swimming.

Another option from Fontana Lake is along Forney Creek. Camp at Lower Forney and hike up to High Rocks for breathtaking views. Or paddle west to Chambers Creek. The campsite there is harder to get to, but the pioneer history in the area makes the trip worthwhile.

If you will be staying in Gatlinburg, opportunities for some of the best rafting, kayaking, and canoeing in the world are nearby. When you see how much natural beauty awaits you, it will be hard to tear yourself away.

I have to say that it’s not easy to find mega and super yachts to charter in the UK. That’s because there aren’t any. According to one mega yacht charter broker I spoke with, “the guests and owners prefer to be in the Mediterranean and the Caribbean”. There are many charter companies in the UK, but the mega yachts they offer cruise the waters elsewhere.

Odd, when the British Isles have so much to offer – almost 8,000 miles of coastline, a hugely varied landscape, an abundance of wildlife, and tons of coastal towns, villages, and cities to explore.

After doing a lot of research, I did however manage to find a few yachts, which, while not mega or super, are gorgeous and luxurious and will keep you cruising the waters around the UK in comfort.

1. The classic 95-foot sailing yacht Halycon, a Bermudan Ketch built in 1929, comes with a crew of 4 (including a gourmet chef) and sleeps up to 8 guests. Also known as “The Orient Express Of The Seas”, Halycon has teak inside and out, central heat, freezers and refrigerators, flat screen TVs, Bose surround sound, Internet access, wakeboard, water skis, snorkeling equipment, and a saloon with a wood burning stove to warm you up after spending an afternoon on deck or in the water.

Halycon is available for charter in England, Wales, Ireland and Scotland (as well as Norway and France).

2. The not-so-aptly named Bare Necessities is an 82-foot sailing yacht available for charter from several ports in southern England (Southampton, Cowes, and Brighton to name a few) as well as further west and in Scotland, (and anywhere in Northern Europe and the Mediterranean). She can sleep 8 (all cabins have en-suite bathrooms) and comes with a crew of 4. There are 20 LCD screens inside and out which show radar, charts and wind speed, as well as movies and TV (should you grow tired of watching your surroundings).

Some suggested itineraries are a Classic Malt Cruise in Scotland, or Round the Island, an annual event in Cowes on the Isle of Wight (the 2009 event is on June 20th).

3. For those who prefer powerboats, the sleek Predator 72, out of Southampton, is a lovely choice. It has a beautiful, modern, light and airy interior with comfy chairs, teak floors, air conditioning, central heat, flatscreen TVs, surround sound, a galley with granite countertops, a full size refrigerator/freezer, a dishwasher, and a large open cockpit with sunbeds, dining table, wet bar and a hydraulically operated roof. It can sleep 6 guests (in 3 cabins) and comes with a crew of 2.

4. The Tethys, a 114-foot motor yacht also out of Southampton, sleeps 10 in 5 cabins with flat screen TVs, DVDs and en-suite bathrooms, and comes with a crew of 4. This Guy Couach yacht, built 2006, is bright and modern, and amenities include surround sound throughout, and a Jacuzzi and bar on the spacious fly bridge.

If you have your heart set on chartering a 200+ feet yacht, you’ll have to “settle” for the Mediterranean, Caribbean or the Pacific, but if you want to explore the waters around the UK, why not give one of the vessels above a try?

Cattie writes about luxury yacht charter and great boating destinations.
